The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers turned up the heat at Bank of the James Stadium on Thursday night, delivering a commanding 13–6 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats thanks to an explosive mix of speed, timely hitting, and a relentless offensive attack.
After falling behind 1–0 in the first inning on a solo home run by Lynchburg’s Luis Merejo, the Ballers quickly settled in and seized control.
Lyle Miller-Green jumpstarted the scoring with a sharp RBI triple in the 2nd inning to tie the game at one. That was just the beginning.
In the 5th, Kannapolis put together a five-run outburst fueled by five consecutive productive at-bats. Jordan Sprinkle dropped a perfectly placed bunt single, stole second, then advanced to third on a passed ball. After an error and a pair of line drive singles from Javier Mogollon, Braden Montgomery, and Nick McLain, the Ballers had broken the game wide open and led 5–2.
They weren’t done.
Sprinkle was everywhere—finishing with three hits, five stolen bases, and three runs scored. The former UCLA standout caused chaos on the basepaths and set the tone at the top of the lineup.
Javier Mogollon had a monster night of his own, collecting four RBIs, including a towering two-run homer to center field in the 7th inning that pushed the lead to double digits and gave Kannapolis a commanding 10–3 advantage.
Montgomery (RBI single), McLain (RBI single), and Ronny Hernandez also contributed to the offensive outpouring, while Hillcats pitching struggled to regain control—issuing multiple walks, balks, hit batters, and allowing several key passed balls.
Despite a small late-inning rally from Lynchburg that briefly cut into the lead, Kannapolis slammed the door shut with three more runs and held on for the 13–6 win.
With the victory, the Cannon Ballers continue to climb, showing they can win with both power and pressure.
