Mooresville’s own Connor Zilisch is set to make his second NASCAR Cup Series start, piloting the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing in the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25, 2025. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the 18-year-old driver, who has rapidly ascended through the ranks of motorsports.

Zilisch’s journey to the Cup Series has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2024, he made headlines by winning his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Watkins Glen International. His versatility was further showcased with victories in prestigious endurance races, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Additionally, Zilisch secured two Craftsman Truck Series poles and triumphed in four ARCA races and a CARS Tour event, underscoring his adaptability across various racing disciplines.

Earlier this year, Zilisch made his Cup Series debut at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), driving the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet. Despite demonstrating competitive pace, his race was cut short due to an accident just past the event’s halfway mark.  Undeterred, Zilisch has continued to focus on his development, competing full-time in the Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports. Notably, he clinched his first Xfinity victory of the season at COTA on March 1, 2025.

Reflecting on the opportunity to compete in the Coca-Cola 600, Zilisch expressed both excitement and gratitude:

“It’s awesome to have the opportunity to race in one of NASCAR’s coolest events. The Charlotte 600 is one of the most prestigious races in NASCAR. It’s going to be a physical and mental challenge because that race is so tough. I’m very appreciative for [Trackhouse owner and founder] Justin [Marks] and everyone at Red Bull for their support and turning this opportunity into a reality.”

The Coca-Cola 600, renowned for its grueling 600-mile distance, stands as one of NASCAR’s crown jewel events, testing the endurance and skill of drivers and teams alike. Zilisch’s participation not only highlights his burgeoning career but also underscores Trackhouse Racing’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

As the race approaches, fans and analysts will be keenly observing how this young driver tackles the challenges of one of NASCAR’s most demanding events.
