Rain Moves Out Friday, Setting the Stage for a Sunny Fall Weekend Across the Region

Thursday, November 5, 2026 - 3:18pm

After another opportunity for showers and a few thunderstorms, a welcome change in the weather is headed toward Rowan, Davie, Davidson, and Cabarrus counties.

Friday will serve as the transition day, with unsettled conditions early before improving weather arrives. By Saturday, sunshine and cooler temperatures should take over, setting the stage for a pleasant November weekend.

Friday: One Last Opportunity for Rain

Showers and a few thunderstorms remain possible across the region overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

Current regional forecast probabilities range from approximately 60% to 70%, with the greatest opportunity for rainfall expected during the early portion of Friday.

Not everyone will necessarily receive the same amount of rain. Some communities could experience periods of heavier showers, while others may see lighter rainfall or only brief periods of precipitation.

As Friday progresses, rain chances should decrease, with clouds gradually breaking and improving conditions expected by the evening.

Afternoon highs will remain relatively mild, generally reaching the lower to middle 70s.

Saturday: Sunshine Returns, Temperatures Cool Down

Saturday marks the beginning of a much quieter weather pattern.

Mostly sunny skies are expected across all four counties, with afternoon highs generally in the middle to upper 60s.

The cooler air will become more noticeable Saturday night as temperatures drop into the middle and upper 30s in many communities.

Some of the colder rural locations could experience temperatures near the freezing mark, creating the potential for patchy frost where conditions are favorable.

Sunday: Another Beautiful Fall Day

Sunday looks like another excellent day for outdoor activities.

Sunshine should dominate across Rowan, Davie, Davidson, and Cabarrus counties, with afternoon temperatures generally in the middle 60s.

Morning temperatures will be chilly, so anyone heading outdoors early will likely want a jacket.

With little to no rainfall expected, Sunday should offer favorable conditions for yard work, outdoor recreation, and other weekend plans.

Early Next Week: Temperatures Begin to Rebound

The dry weather pattern is expected to continue into Monday and Tuesday.

Afternoon highs should gradually climb back toward 70 degrees, with some communities reaching the lower 70s by Tuesday.

Skies should remain mostly sunny, and precipitation chances are expected to stay very low.

That means the region could enjoy several consecutive days of favorable weather following Friday's rain opportunity.

What This Means for Our Four Counties

Although temperatures will vary slightly from one county to another, the overall forecast remains remarkably consistent across the region.

  • Rowan County: Friday morning showers give way to a mostly sunny weekend, with highs near 65 degrees Saturday and Sunday.

  • Davie County: Improving conditions Friday, followed by sunshine and chilly overnight temperatures this weekend.

  • Davidson County: A similar transition to dry weather, with weekend highs in the middle 60s.

  • Cabarrus County: A mild Friday followed by mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures through the weekend.

The Bottom Line

Friday remains our primary opportunity for rainfall before a stretch of quieter weather arrives.

Once the showers move out, the region can look forward to plenty of sunshine, cooler mornings, and comfortable afternoons.

For those making weekend plans, Saturday and Sunday currently look like the best days to spend time outdoors.

Rowan County Weather & Regional Forecast will continue monitoring the timing of Friday's rain and any changes to the weekend outlook.
