Flood Advisory Issued for Davidson County Until Noon

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of central North Carolina, including Davidson County, until 12:00 p.m. EDT as periods of heavy rain continue across the region.

Heavy Rain Leading to Minor Flooding

At 9:34 a.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain has already fallen in some locations, with an additional inch of rainfall possible through midday.

The continued rainfall is expected to cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, especially where heavier downpours persist.

Communities Included

The advisory includes portions of Davidson County, including:

• Lexington
• Thomasville
• Linwood
• Denton

The advisory also covers parts of Guilford and Randolph counties, including High Point, Asheboro, Archdale, Trinity, Randleman, Jamestown, Liberty, Ramseur, Franklinville, Seagrove, Staley, and surrounding communities.

Travel With Caution

Motorists should be prepared for water collecting on roads, especially in areas with poor drainage and near small streams and creeks. Visibility may also be reduced during periods of heavier rainfall.

Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. It is often impossible to determine the depth of the water or whether the road beneath has been damaged.

Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

Rain and thunderstorms will continue to move through the area this morning, and additional advisories or warnings could be issued if heavier rainfall develops. Residents should continue to monitor the latest weather information and be prepared for changing conditions.
