Davidson County Forecast: Hot Today, Then a Cooler and More Active Weekend
One more hot summer day is on tap for Davidson County before a refreshing change arrives this weekend. While temperatures will still be above normal today and Saturday, a gradual cooldown begins Sunday as a more active weather pattern brings increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms.
Today's Forecast
Expect mostly sunny skies for much of the day with a high near 92°. It will remain warm and humid, so if you have outdoor plans this afternoon, be sure to drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
A few showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after 3 PM, with a 30% chance of rain. While coverage will be scattered, any storm that forms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and isolated hail.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low around 71°. A few showers or thunderstorms may develop overnight, mainly between 2 AM and 3 AM.
Saturday
Saturday brings another warm day with highs near 90°. Much of the morning should remain dry before scattered showers and thunderstorms develop during the afternoon and evening. Rain chances increase to 40%, with storms once again capable of producing locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
Sunday Into Monday
The biggest weather change arrives Sunday as cooler air begins moving into the region. Highs will only reach the mid-80s Sunday before dropping to around 80° Monday.
Showers and thunderstorms become much more widespread Sunday afternoon and Sunday night, with a 70% chance of rain. Additional showers remain possible Monday as the cooler air settles into the area.
Some storms could become strong with damaging wind gusts, while repeated rounds of heavy rain may lead to localized flooding, especially where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.
Looking Ahead
Conditions begin improving Tuesday with a mix of clouds and sunshine and a high near 86°. Temperatures should gradually return to more typical July levels through the middle of next week.
