Heat Safety

The prolonged duration of this heat wave continues to be the biggest concern.

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  • Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles.
  • Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

Storm Chances

Most of the holiday weekend should remain dry across Davie County, although isolated thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon or evening hours. Any storm that develops could briefly become strong to severe, producing damaging wind gusts and small hail.

Looking Ahead

Relief from the prolonged heat wave is finally in sight. Beginning early next week, afternoon temperatures will gradually fall back into the 90s while daily chances for showers and thunderstorms become more widespread, bringing a more typical early July weather pattern to Davie County.
