Davie County Forecast: Hotter Weather Returns with Triple-Digit Heat Index Possible
Summer heat is making a strong comeback across Davie County as temperatures climb into the mid-90s through the weekend and into early next week. While isolated afternoon thunderstorms will begin returning, the main weather story will be the increasing heat and humidity.
Dry Through Thursday
Thursday will feature mostly sunny skies with a high near 91 degrees. High pressure remains in control, providing another dry day with light winds.
Thursday night will stay mostly clear with a low around 67 degrees.
Storm Chances Return Friday
Moisture begins working back into the Carolinas on Friday as high pressure shifts farther offshore.
Most of Friday will remain sunny and hot with highs around 94 degrees, but a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 5 PM. Any storms that form should remain scattered and primarily driven by the afternoon heat.
A few showers or thunderstorms may linger Friday evening before gradually ending overnight.
Weekend Heat Continues
Saturday and Sunday remain very hot with afternoon highs reaching 95 degrees Saturday and 94 degrees Sunday.
While isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be possible both days, many communities across Davie County will stay dry. Rain chances remain around 30 percent Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
The bigger concern will be the increasing heat.
As humidity continues to build, heat index values could reach between 100 and 103 degrees during the afternoon hours this weekend. Current forecast trends suggest those dangerous heat index values may continue into the first half of next week.
Heat Safety Tips
This level of heat can quickly become dangerous for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
If you'll be outside this weekend:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
- Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
- Limit strenuous activities during the afternoon.
- Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
The most comfortable times to be outdoors will generally be before 11 AM and after 7 PM.
Looking Ahead
Monday remains sunny and hot with another high near 95 degrees. Forecast confidence continues to increase that triple-digit heat index values could persist through the middle of next week as a strengthening ridge of high pressure expands across the eastern United States.
Although isolated thunderstorms remain possible each afternoon, widespread rainfall is not expected, allowing the heat to remain the dominant weather story.
