Flood Advisory Issued For Parts Of Davidson County Until 6:30 PM

Tuesday, May 26, 2026 - 4:38pm

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms continue impacting portions of Davidson County this evening, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Advisory until 6:30 PM EDT.

The advisory was issued after Doppler radar estimated between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall had already fallen across parts of the county by 4:34 PM. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch remain possible through the early evening hours.

Minor flooding is expected in low-lying areas, poor drainage locations, and on some roadways where heavier rain persists.

Communities specifically mentioned in the advisory include:

  • Lexington
  • Thomasville
  • Welcome

Thunderstorms moving across the area this afternoon have been capable of producing brief torrential rainfall, leading to rapid ponding of water on roads and localized flooding concerns.

Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling this evening, especially during periods of heavy rain.

Remember:
Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles when drivers attempt to cross flooded roadways.

Additional showers and thunderstorms remain possible through this evening across Davidson County and surrounding areas. Rowan County Weather will continue monitoring radar trends and provide updates if additional advisories or warnings are issued.
