Gusty Showers Moving Through Southwest Rowan and Surrounding Areas Through 10 AM

Gusty showers are moving across portions of the western and southern Piedmont this morning and will continue impacting the region through 10:00 AM EST.

At 9:18 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated a line of gusty showers extending from near Newton to northwest of Shelby. The line is moving east at approximately 35 mph.

Hazard

Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible with these showers.

Impact

Gusty winds could:

• Knock down small tree limbs
• Blow around unsecured outdoor objects
• Cause brief visibility reductions in heavier rain

While this is not currently a severe warning, conditions can change quickly.

Areas Impacted

Communities in and around:

• Southwest Rowan County
• Northern Mecklenburg County
• Cabarrus County
• Lincoln County
• Southern Iredell County
• Gaston County
• Southern Cleveland County
• Southeastern Catawba County

Cities impacted include Gastonia, Huntersville, Kannapolis, Shelby, Lincolnton, Cornelius, Mooresville, Kings Mountain, Mount Holly, and Davidson.

If you are outdoors, consider moving inside until the line passes.

These showers may briefly intensify. Continue monitoring local updates and be alert for any additional statements or warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
