Cold Weather Advisory

Davidson County remains under a Cold Weather Advisory Sunday evening into Monday morning. While tonight’s temperatures stay above advisory thresholds, the incoming arctic air mass will bring much colder and potentially hazardous conditions late Sunday night into early Monday.

Geminid Meteor Shower — Regional Viewing Outlook

The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight, but cloud cover will be increasing across all three counties. Even so, there may be short windows of partial clearing this evening, especially before midnight, when meteor activity is still strong.

Key points for Rowan, Davie, and Davidson Counties:

  • Best viewing window: Early evening to around midnight

  • Cloud conditions: Increasing through the night, reducing visibility later

  • What to expect: A few bright meteors may still be visible between cloud breaks

  • Tip: Look toward the darkest section of the sky away from streetlights for the best chance

Even with cloud cover, the Geminids are bright enough that a few may still be visible during clearer moments.
