Latest Weather Conditions for the Southern Rowan Christmas Parade

Tuesday, November 25, 2025 - 7:35am

The Southern Rowan Christmas Parade arrives later today, and this morning begins with cool temperatures and increasing clouds ahead of an approaching cold front. Here is the latest look at what attendees, participants, and organizers can expect throughout the day.

Current Conditions (as of 7:30 AM)

Temperatures across southern Rowan County are currently near 48° under mostly cloudy skies. Winds are calm to light, and the air remains dry early this morning. Only a few isolated light showers are showing up well to the southwest, but moisture will gradually increase through the day.

Rain and Storm Chances

Shower and thunderstorm chances will rise later this afternoon and evening as the cold front approaches. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few thunderstorms are possible. Any storms that develop may bring brief heavy downpours and occasional thunder.

The Storm Prediction Center continues to keep our area under a General Thunderstorm Risk for today.

Parade Timing

The start of the parade should remain mostly dry, with cloudy skies and temperatures climbing out of the 40s and into the upper 50s and 60s by midday and afternoon. As the parade moves along, the chance for showers increases, with the highest rain and storm chances expected later in the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will remain mild during the parade before cooler air arrives tonight behind the front.

Wind and Visibility

Winds will stay light this morning before increasing slightly this afternoon at 5 to 7 mph out of the south. Visibility will remain good outside of any passing showers.

What to Expect

  • Cloudy skies throughout the day

  • Cool start this morning, warming into the 60s

  • Increasing chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms later today

  • Brief downpours possible late in the event

  • No widespread severe weather expected

Final Notes

Attendees should be prepared for the possibility of rain later in the parade. Ponchos or umbrellas are recommended, and parade units should plan for damp conditions toward evening. I will continue monitoring radar and provide updates if conditions change.
