Pollen, Air Quality & Soil Temperature Forecast — Final Update of the Season

Monday, November 10, 2025 - 8:07am

As we wrap up the fall season, this marks the final pollen, air quality, and soil temperature forecast for 2025. Cooler air, shorter days, and a hard freeze have officially brought an end to the local growing season.

Pollen Levels

Pollen levels across Rowan County have dropped to very low or none. Tree, grass, and weed pollen counts are now minimal, and the allergy season has effectively come to a close.
Those with seasonal allergies can expect relief through the winter months, though indoor triggers such as dust and mold can still cause minor irritation.

Air Quality

Air quality across the area remains good to moderate, thanks to the clear, dry air moving in behind the cold front. With fewer sources of ground-level ozone and smoke this time of year, overall air quality will remain healthy through late fall and early winter.
As heating systems begin running more frequently, residents should still check filters and ventilation to maintain good indoor air quality.

Soil Temperature

Soil temperatures have now fallen into the upper 30s to low 40s, signaling the official end of the growing season.
Root development and germination slow dramatically below 40°F, meaning most plants and lawns have entered dormancy. Gardeners should take this time to wrap up outdoor tasks, protect irrigation lines, and begin planning for spring soil preparation.

Seasonal Wrap-Up

The combination of low pollen counts, clean air, and cooling soil marks the transition into winter’s quiet phase. Outdoor air will continue to feel fresh and clear through much of the week, especially under the high pressure system that settles in Tuesday night.

This will be the last Pollen, Air Quality, and Soil Temperature Forecast of the 2025 season — these updates will return in the spring when conditions become favorable again.
