Pollen Forecast

Pollen levels remain low across Rowan County today, with the first hard freeze of the season arriving Monday night expected to bring a major shutdown in local pollen activity. Most remaining pollen in the air is from late-fall weeds and grasses, but that will quickly fade as temperatures drop into the 20s by early Tuesday.

Air Quality

Air quality is good throughout the area, thanks to the cold, dry air mass moving in behind the front. Northwest winds will continue to clear out any lingering haze or fine particulates. AQI values are expected to stay between 25 and 40, well within the “Good” category.

Soil Temperature

Current soil temperatures across Rowan County are averaging in the mid to upper 50s. That will begin to fall rapidly after Monday night’s freeze, with the first solid freeze cycle of the season cooling the top layer of soil into the 40s by midweek.

Reminder:
Tomorrow’s update will be the final Pollen, Air Quality, and Soil Temperature Forecast of the season as the expected hard freeze Monday night into Tuesday morning will effectively end local pollen production for 2025’s warm season.
