Pollen, Air Quality & Soil Temperature Forecast
Thursday, November 6, 2025
We are heading into the final stretch for pollen and soil temperature updates this season, and it is no surprise — the chill arriving early next week will bring a hard freeze that puts an end to most pollen activity across Rowan County.
Pollen Forecast
Pollen levels remain low through the weekend, mainly from ragweed and mold spores lingering in shaded or damp spots. As temperatures drop into the 20s early next week, pollen counts will fall to near zero, effectively ending the 2025 pollen season across Rowan County.
Air Quality
Air quality stays in the Good range (AQI 25–40) through Sunday thanks to light winds, dry air, and no major burn activity nearby. You may notice a little haze at sunrise Friday and Saturday due to calm, cool conditions, but overall, it will remain another clean-air stretch for the county.
Soil Temperature
Current soil temperatures are averaging around 56–58°F at the 4-inch depth. Expect those numbers to drop sharply by early next week once the hard freeze hits, with readings likely falling into the upper 40s by Tuesday morning. That drop will signal the official dormancy period for most lawns and late fall crops.
Seasonal Wrap-Up
Monday, November 10, will be the final Pollen, Air Quality, and Soil Temperature Forecast of the season. After that, these updates will return in early March as spring growth begins again.
Until then, enjoy the clear, crisp November days and prepare for that first deep freeze early next week.
