Mosquito Forecast for Rowan County

Thursday, October 30, 2025 - 9:13am

By Steve Monday | Rowan County Weather

Mosquito activity is finally winding down across Rowan County as cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and breezy conditions take hold. The recent stretch of dry, crisp weather has significantly reduced the number of mosquitoes active around the area.

This Weekend

With sunny afternoons and cooler nights, mosquito activity will remain low. The combination of dry air and daytime breezes makes it difficult for mosquitoes to thrive, creating ideal conditions for spending time outdoors.

Remaining Pockets of Activity

A few mosquitoes may still linger in shaded or damp spots, particularly where standing water remains. Buckets, birdbaths, gutters, and potted plant saucers can still serve as small breeding sites.

Prevention Tips

Residents are encouraged to remove or refresh standing water sources, trim dense vegetation, and keep gutters clear to prevent any last-minute mosquito breeding before colder weather arrives for good.

Rowan County is entering one of the most comfortable stretches of the season — a perfect time for outdoor activities without many pests to worry about.
