The recent stretch of cloudy, damp days has not been enough to sustain breeding, and the combination of cooler nights and shorter days has sharply reduced their numbers.
Current Activity:
Mosquito activity is very low. Only a few may still be active in shaded or damp areas, especially near standing water or under dense vegetation.
Trend:
As temperatures continue to fall into the 40s and low 50s, mosquito activity will remain minimal. This marks the tail end of the season, and most breeding cycles will stop completely as frost potential increases this weekend.
Outdoor Events:
If you’re attending or hosting any outdoor Halloween or fall gatherings, the risk of mosquito bites is low. Basic precautions such as removing standing water and using repellents around dusk are still encouraged but likely unnecessary for most areas.
After a long and humid summer, the cooler air has finally given us one more reason to enjoy fall evenings outdoors without the buzz of mosquitoes nearby.
