Pattern Shift Ahead
A stubborn cold-air wedge has kept clouds and drizzle in place through much of the early week, but by Thursday afternoon, drier air will begin to push in from the west. That will help break up the overcast skies and allow temperatures to rebound slightly heading into Friday and Saturday.
Highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to around 60 both Friday and Saturday, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 30s and low 40s. Those cooler nights will make for crisp, classic fall mornings — perfect for coffee on the porch or a trip to one of the area’s outdoor events.
A Dry and Comfortable Weekend
The weekend forecast looks mostly sunny with light winds and low humidity. It will still feel cool compared to normal late-October averages, but after several gloomy days, the sunshine will be a welcome change.
If you’re heading out to enjoy local fall fun — from pumpkin patches and farm markets to high school playoff games or downtown events — conditions look excellent both days.
Looking Ahead
Another weak front may approach early next week, but for now, the weekend should stay dry and comfortable across Rowan County.
After a week of rain jackets and umbrellas, it will finally be time to reach for sunglasses again.
