Tropical Update from the National Hurricane Center
A tropical wave currently located near the Windward Islands is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms. The system is moving quickly westward at 20 to 25 mph into the eastern Caribbean Sea.
Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected across portions of the Windward and Leeward Islands through Monday morning. While development is expected to be limited over the next day or two due to the system’s fast forward motion, it is expected to slow down over the central Caribbean Sea during the middle portion of the week, where environmental conditions could become more favorable for development.
A tropical depression could form over the central Caribbean Sea by the middle to latter part of this week.
Formation Chances (NHC):
• Through 48 hours: Low (10%)
• Through 7 days: Medium (60%)
