Mosquito Forecast – Rowan County

Saturday, October 18, 2025 - 8:20am

Cooler and drier air behind Sunday’s cold front will bring much lower mosquito activity heading into next week.

Today: Mild temperatures in the upper 70s with light evening breezes will still allow some activity near standing water or shaded areas, especially around sunset.

Sunday: Showers possible in the afternoon, followed by gusty winds and a cooler air mass Sunday night. Activity will drop quickly once temperatures fall into the 40s.

Early Next Week: Sunny, dry, and cooler days with lows near 40 degrees will greatly reduce mosquito activity. By midweek, most breeding and biting activity will pause until the next warm spell.

Tip: Empty any containers holding rainwater before Sunday night’s cold front moves through to prevent new mosquito hatchings.
