Rowan County’s stretch of dry, sunny weather is set to continue right through the weekend and into early next week. While the pattern won’t deliver any rain, a backdoor cold front dropping south will bring a subtle but noticeable change in temperatures.
Warm Finish to the Week
Friday will be the warmest day of the stretch, with highs climbing into the upper 80s under full sunshine. This will be about 6–8 degrees above normal for mid-September, giving us one last taste of summerlike warmth.
Weekend Front Brings Cooler Air
On Saturday, a backdoor cold front moves through. It won’t bring any precipitation, but it will help trim back afternoon highs. Expect mid 80s Saturday, then a cooler feel settles in Sunday with highs topping out in the lower 80s. Nights will also become a touch cooler, with lows dropping into the lower 60s.
Early Next Week Outlook
The dry streak continues into Monday and Tuesday with partly sunny skies and afternoon highs in the low 80s. Humidity levels remain manageable, making for pleasant afternoons and comfortable evenings.
What It Means Locally

Outdoor Plans: The weekend looks fantastic for football, festivals, and fall events — with no rain expected.
-
Comfort: Still warm Friday, but a more seasonable feel arrives Sunday into early next week.
-
Rain Watch: The dry pattern holds for at least the next 7 days, with no meaningful rain chances on the horizon.
Rowan County Weather will keep tracking the longer-range outlook for the first signs of a true fall cool-down.
