Labor Day Weekend Forecast: Cooler, Comfortable Weather Ahead

Saturday, August 30, 2025 - 6:49am

Rowan County is in for one of the most comfortable holiday weekends in recent memory. After a stretch of hot and muggy days earlier this month, a dome of high pressure is bringing in cooler and drier air that will stick around through Labor Day and beyond.

Today and Tonight

Saturday will feature partly sunny skies with highs near 83. Winds will be calm to light out of the northeast. Tonight will be clear and cool, with lows dropping near 60.

Sunday and Labor Day

Sunday will bring a small 20 percent chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, but most areas will remain dry. Highs will top out near 79 with a pleasant breeze from the east-northeast. Overnight lows dip to the mid-50s under partly cloudy skies.
Labor Day Monday looks nearly perfect, with plenty of sunshine, highs around 78, and comfortable humidity levels.

The Week Ahead

The trend continues into next week with highs holding in the upper 70s to near 80 through Wednesday. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny, and only a small chance of showers arrives late Wednesday night.

Local Impact

This setup means excellent conditions for outdoor plans, cookouts, and lake trips. After a summer filled with heat waves and humidity, the cool and dry air mass will be a refreshing change.
