The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a general thunderstorm risk, meaning a few storms are possible this afternoon and evening. While severe weather is not expected to be widespread, any storm could produce brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning.
Once the front clears the region tonight, a refreshing change is on the way. High pressure will build in from the north, bringing drier air and cooler temperatures. Monday will still be warm in the low 80s, but by midweek, daytime highs will settle in the upper 70s with overnight lows dipping into the 50s.
This pattern marks our first real taste of fall for the season, with comfortable days and crisp mornings expected through much of the upcoming week. For Rowan County residents, this means ideal weather for school activities, sports practices, and outdoor events after a stretch of summer heat and humidity.
