Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Northern Rowan and Southeastern Davie Counties

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for:

  • Southeastern Davie County, including the Cooleemee area

  • North central Rowan County, including Woodleaf and Fork Church

Warning is in effect until 5:15 PM EDT

At 4:14 PM, radar detected a severe thunderstorm near Mocksville, moving southeast at only 5 mph. While movement is slow, the storm is capable of producing:

  • Wind gusts up to 60 mph

  • Penny-size hail

These conditions could lead to damage to trees and power lines across the warned area.

Locations Impacted:

  • Cooleemee

  • Woodleaf

  • Fork Church


Safety Tips:

Residents in the warned area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Do not remain outside or in vehicles during this storm.
