A strong thunderstorm is currently affecting portions of northeastern Catawba County, southern Iredell County, and southwestern Rowan County. As of 5:19 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the storm was located near Newton, centered over Conover, and showing minimal movement.

• Wind gusts up to 40 mph

• Heavy rainfall leading to potential localized flooding

• Mooresville

• Conover

• Troutman

• Claremont

• Catawba

• Lake Norman State Park

• Lookout Shoals Lake

• St. Stephens
