Elliott Punches Playoff Ticket with Emotional Victory in the Quaker State 400

HAMPTON, Ga. (June 29, 2025) — Under the lights and in front of his home crowd, Chase Elliott delivered a storybook ending on Saturday night at EchoPark Speedway, surging to the lead on the final lap to win the Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart.

Elliott, the Dawsonville, Georgia native, drove the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet—specially designed by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta patient Rhealynn—through a chaotic race featuring 46 lead changes and 10 cautions. The victory marks Elliott’s first of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, clinching a spot in the playoffs and his second career win at Atlanta’s EchoPark Speedway.

“This is unbelievable,” Elliott told the crowd. “All of the cards fell in the right places in the last couple of laps. What a crazy race.”

The race began with Joey Logano dominating early until a weather delay brought out a red flag. Austin Cindric claimed Stage 1 after a tight battle with Logano, but Stage 2 brought disaster for several contenders. A massive crash collected Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Logano, and Daniel Suárez, while Tyler Reddick edged Elliott for the stage win.

In the final stage, strategy and survival became the name of the game. Elliott cycled to the front and battled hard against Brad Keselowski, Alex Bowman, and Zane Smith in a restart-heavy closing stretch. Keselowski regained the lead with five laps to go, but Elliott found the perfect moment to pounce, diving to the inside and clearing the field on the backstretch.

Keselowski, who led a race-high 41 laps, settled for second.

“One-on-one, I could take them, but two-on-one it was just more than I had,” Keselowski said. “We’re making the most of our opportunities.”

Alex Bowman finished third, Tyler Reddick came home fourth, and Erik Jones rounded out the top five despite a late-race spin.

As fireworks lit up the Georgia sky, Elliott celebrated with the EchoPark Speedway crowd — a fitting end to one of the most emotional and hard-fought wins of his career.
