Strong Thunderstorm Impacting Northwestern Rowan and Southeastern Iredell Counties Tonight

A strong thunderstorm is currently moving through parts of northwestern Rowan and southeastern Iredell County and is expected to continue through at least 11:30 PM.

As of 10:53 PM, Doppler radar was tracking the storm about 11 miles northwest of Kannapolis, or approximately 5 miles northeast of Mooresville, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Storm Hazards:

  • Wind gusts up to 50 mph

  • Half-inch hail

These conditions can lead to minor hail damage to outdoor property and could knock down tree limbs or blow around unsecured objects.

Areas Under Threat:

  • Cleveland

  • Mooresville

  • Mount Ulla

  • Woodleaf

  • Piedmont Research Station

  • Cool Springs

Safety Reminder:
If you are outdoors in the affected area, seek shelter inside a sturdy building immediately. These gusty winds and hail could become more intense in localized spots.
