Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Rowan County and Surrounding Areas

The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #459, which is in effect until 12:00 AM EDT Thursday, June 26, 2025, for Rowan County and much of the surrounding region.

What to Expect:

  • WIND: Scattered gusts up to 75 MPH likely.

  • HAIL: Isolated hail up to ping pong ball size possible.

  • LIGHTNING: Frequent lightning is possible with any storms that develop.

Counties Included:

This watch covers 28 counties in North Carolina, 12 in South Carolina, and 6 in Georgia, including Rowan, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Iredell, Davie, and Union counties in our immediate area.

Cities and Towns Affected:

Salisbury, Concord, Mooresville, Kannapolis, Charlotte, Huntersville, Monroe, Statesville, and more are all included in the watch area. Please review the full list from the NWS if traveling beyond the county.
