LONG POND, PA — Layne Riggs added another milestone to his rising NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series career Friday evening, winning the MillerTech Battery 200 at Pocono Raceway and officially clinching a spot in the 2025 Playoffs.
Driving the No. 38 truck for Front Row Motorsports, Riggs started from the pole, controlled the race early, and held off a late push from challengers to secure the win after 80 laps around the 2.5-mile Pocono triangle.
“This win means everything,” Riggs said. “We’ve shown speed all season, and to come out on top at a track like Pocono is huge. Locking into the playoffs gives our whole team a boost going into the second half of the year.”
Race Highlights:
-
Pole to Victory: Riggs led early and often, winning Stage 1 and maintaining track position throughout the race.
-
Final Restart Drama: A late caution bunched up the field, but Riggs nailed the final restart and never gave up the lead.
-
Team Strength: The win was a strong showing for Front Row Motorsports, with teammate Chandler Smith finishing 7th.
Chandler Smith Stays Solid:
Smith drove from 15th to 7th in the No. 36 truck, continuing his consistent season and holding on to 2nd in the championship standings.
“Our truck was strong, but we just ran out of time,” Smith said. “Still, a top-10 at Pocono is a good day. We’ll regroup and go after it again next week.”
Playoff Implications:
With Friday’s win, Riggs climbs to 4th in the driver standings and locks himself into the postseason, giving Front Row Motorsports two strong championship contenders as the regular season winds down.
Next Up: The Truck Series returns to action Friday night at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the TSport 200.
