The National Weather Service has issued an alert for a strong thunderstorm impacting parts of east-central Iredell County and heading into northwestern Rowan County through 5:45 PM EDT.
At 4:53 PM, Doppler radar detected a storm near Troutman, about 5 miles south of Statesville, moving east at 10 mph. This slow-moving storm is producing wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel-sized hail.

Hazards:

Wind gusts up to 50 mph – capable of downing small tree limbs and blowing around unsecured outdoor objects
