If you’ve stepped outside lately, you’ve likely noticed how pleasant it feels — sunny skies, mild afternoons, and a touch of coolness in the mornings. For early June in Rowan County, this kind of weather is something to appreciate — and it’s not just your imagination. Conditions have lined up perfectly to give us a comfortable start to the month.
Why It Feels So Good Right Now
High pressure has been firmly in control over the Carolinas to start the week, keeping skies mostly clear and humidity levels lower than what we often see in early June. Daytime highs are running right around average — in the low to mid 80s — but what makes the difference is the drier, calmer air.
Winds have been light, and dewpoints have hovered in the upper 50s to low 60s. That means the air feels comfortable — not sticky — even with sunshine overhead.
How This Compares to Normal
For early June, Rowan County typically sees highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the lower 60s. So far, 2025 is tracking right in line with those averages.
We’ve also seen some beneficial rainfall recently. Showers late last week helped boost local moisture levels — good news for lawns, gardens, and farm fields — but we’ve since dried out, setting up this stretch of pleasant, stable weather.
How Long Will This Last?
This pattern won’t hold forever. Rain chances start to return by late Wednesday night into Thursday, with spotty showers possible through the weekend. Even then, we’re not expecting a washout — just occasional rain chances in an otherwise warm, partly sunny setup.
Humidity will gradually increase late in the week, and summer’s heat may start to build again heading into next week.
Take Advantage While It Lasts
This is the kind of weather that’s perfect for:
-
Morning walks or runs
-
Evening porch time
-
Catching a local ballgame
-
Getting ahead on garden work before higher heat and humidity return
Enjoy it while it lasts, Rowan County. Early June doesn’t always start this gently.
