As we head into the weekend, Rowan County will experience a noticeable shift in the weather pattern — from warm and stormy to cooler and cloudier. Whether you’re planning yard work, heading to a ballgame, or making last-minute Mother’s Day plans, here’s what you need to know about the forecast:
Saturday: A Cooler, Mostly Dry Start
After a warm and stormy Friday, Saturday brings a return to partly sunny skies and highs near 69 degrees. A light northeast breeze will add a crisp feel to the air — a big difference from earlier in the week.
Best time for outdoor plans:
Late morning to mid-afternoon. It will be the driest and most comfortable window of the weekend.
Saturday Night:
A slight chance of rain arrives overnight, especially after midnight. Lows dip into the mid-50s, so keep a jacket handy if you’re out late.
Sunday: Cloudier & Slightly Damp
Sunday will be mostly cloudy with spotty rain chances during the day (only around 20 percent), but it likely won’t be a total washout. Highs will stay cool — right around 68 degrees.
If you’re celebrating Mother’s Day outdoors, plan to stay weather-aware, but most light showers will hold off until the evening.
Sunday Night:
Rain chances climb to 50 percent as a larger system approaches, setting the stage for a wet start to next week.
What’s Next?
Rain chances increase significantly by Monday and Tuesday, with widespread showers and possible thunderstorms. Now is a good time to check your outdoor drains and gutters — next week could bring some of May’s heaviest rain yet.
