The West Rowan Middle School Bulldogs put the finishing touch on a dominant 2025 season Monday evening, defeating Erwin 7–4 to claim the Tri-County Conference Championship. The title win at North Rowan Middle capped off an undefeated run through both the regular season and tournament play.
Eighth grader Luke Bame delivered a performance to remember, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Bame launched a solo home run to center in the third inning, added a double in the first, and tallied singles in the fifth and sixth innings. His consistent bat helped set the tone for a Bulldogs team that’s been tough to slow down all spring.
West Rowan got on the board early thanks to an RBI single from Cade Scruggs in the bottom of the first. Bame’s third-inning homer added to the momentum, but Erwin briefly closed the gap when Hunter Lingle hit a solo shot of his own in the fourth.
The Bulldogs responded with timely hitting and strong defense to maintain their lead and close out the game. The 7–4 victory secured the championship and preserved their unbeaten record, a rare feat in middle school baseball.
With a conference title and an undefeated season in the books, West Rowan Middle's 2025 campaign will go down as one of the most impressive in recent memory.
