Rowan County will be the heart of the action Thursday as both the South Piedmont Conference Softball and Baseball Championship Games feature all-Rowan matchups — and plenty of bragging rights on the line.
Softball: East Rowan vs West Rowan
The Mustangs and Falcons will square off in the SPC Softball title game at West Rowan High School, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM.
East Rowan advanced with a 10-0 win over Central Cabarrus and continues to show off the powerful lineup and solid pitching that’s carried them all season. West Rowan, meanwhile, handled South Rowan to reach the final and has a deep roster capable of delivering in clutch moments.
This county rivalry has delivered big games before — and Thursday should be no different.
Baseball: East Rowan vs West Rowan
Just a few miles down the road at Jesse Carson High School, East and West will also meet in the SPC Baseball Championship.
The Mustangs earned a 7-1 win over Lake Norman Charter in Tuesday’s semifinal, while the Falcons held off Northwest Cabarrus. East Rowan comes in as the regular-season champs, and with two earlier wins over West, they’ll look to complete the season sweep. But don’t count out the Falcons — their pitching staff has kept them in every game and they’ll be fired up for another shot at their biggest rivals.
A Big Night for Rowan County Sports Fans
Two championship games. Four county teams. One unforgettable night of high-stakes high school sports. Whether you're at West Rowan for softball or Carson for baseball, it’s a proud night for Rowan County athletics.
