As spring sports hit full stride, athletes across Rowan County are racking up impressive performances on the diamond, the track, and the pitch. RCW Sports takes a look at standout individual efforts from this past week that made waves in local competition.

Baseball

West Rowan Falcons

  • Carter Durant drove in 5 runs in a 13-0 win over Lake Norman, while Brant Graham added 3 RBIs.

  • Eli Graham tossed 4 shutout innings to earn the win and improve to 2-0 on the season, extending West’s win streak to eight games.

Carson Cougars

  • In a 10-3 win over JM Robinson, Corbin Hales went a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI, while TJ Harris drove in 3 runs.

  • Pitcher Sifford was efficient on the mound, throwing a complete game on just 85 pitches with 6 strikeouts and no walks.

Salisbury Hornets

  • Hank Webb, Sparger, Tucker, and Koontz each recorded 2 hits in a tough 6-5 loss to Thomasville.

  • Salisbury led late before Webb hit his pitch count limit, shifting the momentum.

Softball

Salisbury Hornets

  • The bats came alive in a 16-1 rout of Lexington.

    • Dasmine Ambers: 2 hits, double, 3 RBIs

    • Ashley Yang: 2 hits, triple, 3 runs

    • Emma Blackwell: 3 runs scored

Lake Norman Charter

  • Scored 7 runs in the first inning to take control in an 8-0 win over Carson in SPC action.

Women’s Soccer

South Rowan Raiders

  • Earned a 3-2 win over Carson, a back-and-forth contest that showcased strong play from both sides and clutch finishing from the Raiders late.
