Spring Weather Shifts into High Gear Across Rowan County

Friday, April 4, 2025 - 8:19am

Rowan County, NC – April 4, 2025 — As spring settles in across Rowan County, residents are experiencing the season’s familiar weather rollercoaster — with warm, sunny afternoons giving way to cooler mornings, isolated rain showers, and the occasional thunderstorm.

This week, temperatures have been climbing steadily into the upper 60s and low 70s, with warmer days ahead. Overnight lows continue to dip into the upper 40s and 50s, making for crisp mornings that quickly give way to more comfortable daytime conditions.

Meteorologists say the region is entering a more active weather pattern typical for early April. “We’re watching a frontal system expected to move through the Carolinas later this week,” said Steve Monday Chief Forecaster for Rowan County Weather. “This could bring some scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially the last half of the weekend.”

Looking ahead, Rowan County residents should be prepared for increased rain chances as the weekend progresses:

• Sunday, April 6: Cloudy and warm with a high near 82°F. There’s a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may have the potential for localized flooding, gusty winds, and even heavy rain at times.

• Monday, April 7: Cooler temperatures with a high around 66°F. There’s a 60% chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m., tapering off as the day progresses.

Local farmers are welcoming the upcoming rain after a relatively dry March, which saw slightly below-average precipitation. “It will be good to see the soil getting some moisture again,” said a local grower from China Grove. “The timing couldn’t be better as planting gets underway.”

As always, residents are advised to keep an eye on local forecasts and be prepared for quick weather changes — a hallmark of springtime in the Piedmont region.
