“We came here with a little bit of a fixed mindset and maybe too much so. At the same time, I knew that if I didn’t commit to one thing, I would bounce back and forth between both and end up worse. I tried to stay disciplined with what I came here to do and what we thought was going to work. It didn’t quite work out how we thought it would. I’m still proud of our Whelen team though. Our Chevrolet was extremely fast on fire off. We just missed a little bit on the long run. I may be getting our tires too hot on the short run, because we were better than the guys that drove past us later. There are a couple things I can work on when we get back to the shop, especially with managing tires on the long run. I’m proud of our organization. It was a good day for both of us. We both had a shot at the win at the end. Overall, I’m proud of the No. 2 team and look forward to next week.”

“Our Global Industrial Chevrolet was decent all day. We couldn’t hang with the No. 17 and No. 41 unfortunately. Once we got late into a run, the car was really good. We would just lose so much track position in the beginning and couldn’t run them back down. The last restart was tough. The No. 17 was playing games. He brake checked, I brake checked, and then I buzzed the tires once I went. I drove deep into Turn 1 to make sure the No. 17 didn’t get to my outside, but he got underneath me. After taking the white, I put it on his door in Turn 1, but our car got on the splitter and shoved up the racetrack. Man, it’s unfortunate. We definitely could have won that race. We were there in the thick of it. The tough part is we lost the race and the $100 grand (Dash 4 Cash bonus). Overall, it was a solid day for our No. 21 team. We were third before that caution came out, and we ended up finishing third. We will keep digging though. If we keep having this speed each and every week, we will end up back in Victory Lane eventually.”
