Severe thunderstorms will impact the region Saturday night into Sunday. The main threats will be damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. A strong tornado cannot be ruled out.
➔ Some areas of nuisance to minor flooding are possible for locations that receive multiple rounds of heavy rain.
➔ Gusty winds develop on Saturday and linger into Sunday.
➔ Thunderstorms could regenerate Sunday afternoon ahead of the cold front along and east of I-77.
▪ The far western Carolina Mountains and Northeast Georgia zones have the highest probability for tornadoes Saturday night.
▪ Areas ahead of the line of storms will remain in a favorable environment for tornadoes.
▪ Brief tornadoes are possible; however, a strong tornado cannot be ruled out.
Non-thunderstorm wind gusts are expected to develop throughout Saturday, lingering into Sunday afternoon.
▪ Gusts peak Saturday night.
▪ Mountain Gusts: 35-50 mph, with 50-55 mph above 3,500 ft. A wind advisory may be needed for the mountains.
▪ Gusts Elsewhere: 30-40 mph
