Days of rain ahead

Monday, February 10, 2025 - 9:41am

We are certainly in need of rain. All you have to do is look at the latest drought monitor to see that. Or simply go outside and walk around to see just how dry the ground is. We will get some relief over the next few days as rain moves into the area and the county. A strong slow moving frontal system will move into the area to have an impact on the county and the area for the middle of the week.

By 10am Tuesday morning rain will already be impacting the county with more widespread and heavy rainfall moving in giving us the potential for several inches of rainfall through the day time hours on Thursday.

Rain will continue around the county and the area by Wednesday morning and could be heavy at times. Localized flooding could be a concern in the usual trouble spots.

As we move into the morning hours Thursday, we will continue to see rain moving through the county and the area. However, the rain will be coming to an end by Thursday afternoon to give us some drying before our next chance for rain comes over the upcoming weekend.

As of now it looks as if the county could see anywhere from 1 -2 inches of rainfall over the three-day period. With the current drought conditions around the county and the area we could certainly use every drop.

Continue to stay with Rowan County Weather as we move through the week for the latest updates on the weather and any road conditions that may arise from the rainfall that occurs with this system.
