Our hopes of getting rain this morning event though they were low did not pan out. However, chances are possible this Friday afternoon and into the morning hours of Saturday.
We could see stout surface low make its way into the area late Thursday and start impacting the western North Carolina mountains heading into the day on Friday. If the system survives the mountains, it is possible we could see a springtime like pattern develop that could lead to some thunderstorms around the area and possibly the county.
Between 1 & 4 pm Friday afternoon we could see a line of shoers and storms make their way into the county from the west bringing the potential of heavy rains and gusty winds along with thunder and lightning for the Friday afternoon and evening commute.
Once all is said and done and we start to clear out on Saturday we could see as much as a half an inch to an inch of much needed rainfall around the county to help provide some relief from the current drought conditions.
Riwan County Weather wil provide updates as we move through the remiander of the week with the latest forecast and potential impacts from this system.
