* At 406 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 4 miles east of Taylorsville to 4 miles north of
Statesville to 7 miles southwest of Mocksville, moving south at 20
mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.

Statesville, Troutman, Stony Point, Claremont, Cooleemee,
Cleveland, Catawba, Lookout Shoals Lake, Lake Norman State Park,
and Mount Ulla.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If on or near Lake Norman, get away from the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
