Severe Storms Expected Today

A Moderate Risk (level 4 out of 5) has been added for several NC mountain counties.
An Enhanced Risk (level 3 out of 5) for severe storms is still in place across the rest of the forecast area. Numerous severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening, mainly from 2pm until 8pm.
A Heat Advisory is still in effect for portions of the North Carolina Piedmont and South Carolina Upstate.

Main impact will be damaging winds from severe storms that may knock down trees and power lines, can't rule out an isolated tornado or two around the area, large hail will be possible with any severe storms that develop, cloud to ground lightning will be possible with any thunderstorms today & heavy downpours could lead to localized flooding.
