Monday Weather Update 7/22/19

Monday, July 22, 2019 - 11:23am

Happy Monday everyone! As we begin another work week there is a risk for severe weather later today and this evening. I wanted to take a moment to provide you with a detailed forecast update so you can prepare accordingly. The high temperature today will top out around 94° the good news is this will be the last day for for the foreseeable future we will be in the 90's.

A cold front will move into the area on Tuesday. The cold front will usher in cooler temps and along with it increase the chance for some strong to severe thunderstorms. As we move into the late afternoon and early evening hours we will see rain move through the county with isolated showers at times. Starting around 5pm this evening.

As we move into the evening hours we could see periods of heavy rain and severe weather. The biggest concerns will be localized flooding and the risk for damaging winds.  The best chance for severe weather will be around 9pm this evening.

The K-Index data below supports the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms to develop and move through the area and the county during the evening hours. Again the biggest concern at this point would be localized flooding from brief periods of heavy rain. Damaging winds are also possible but the risk is low. Just can't rule them out.

I will continue to keep you updated here on the website and on all of my social media platforms as well. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
