Heavy Rain Moves in Overnight

Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - 7:52pm

We started out this morning with a little bit of freezing drizzle around the county but luckily avoided any serious ice issues. The skies have been overcast throughout the day as a warm front closes in on the county. The warm front will bring rain ahead of it. We will see rain start to move into the county around midnight.

Rain will continue to move through the county overnight and we will have some heavy rainfall while most of us are sleeping. Periods of heavy rainfall will move into the county around 2am. Heavy rainfall will continue right into the early morning hours and should start to wind down as we head into the morning commute.

We will see rain continue to move through the county and become isolated as we move through the morning hours. We will see rain start to move off to the east around 10am Thursday morning.

As far as accumulation totals go we will see over an inch of rainfall move through the county over the next 10-12 hours. Some areas may close in on an inch and a quarter of rainfall before all is said and done.

I will continue to keep you updated right here and on social media throughout the evening and into the morning as rain closes in and moves away form the county. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
