Rain is on the way
As we start to head into another weekend. We are also dealing with the repeating weather issues that have come along with them. This weekend will certainly not be any different than the past few have been. Rain is currently making it's way through Georgia and South Carolina as you can see from the radar image below.

We will see that rainfall expand and make it's way into the county as we move into the early morning hours of Saturday. Rain will arrive between 5 - 6am here in the county. Moving to the north/northeast. We will certainly have enough of the rain this weekend as it will be around for most of it.

Over the next 48-72 hours we will see anywhere from 3/4 of an inch to an inch and a half of rain around the county. This will have an impact on our current drought status. i would not be surprised if we are no longer in a drought by next Thursday when the new report is issued.

I will be providing updates right here and on social media tonight and throughout the weekend. A few concerns I have would be localized flooding. We could see some trees come down from the saturated ground. That of course could lead to power outages. When and if these impacts occur I will keep you posted. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather.
