Rain picks up throughout the day to setup a wet Friday

Thursday, January 11, 2018 - 8:51am

We are in store for rainfall around the county today. Showers will be light and mainly drizzle for most of they day with more moderate rainfall moving into the county later this evening around 7pm.

We will not see much movement in the old thermometer today as we see a high of around 59º and a low of only 54º

The winds could be gusty at times with any showers that move through the county today and this evening. I am not looking for any damaging winds but gust will be enough that it will catch your attention. Helicity values are a little elevated but more so west of the county. If there are any damaging winds I feel it will be in the mountains and foothills today and this evening.

We will see wind speeds around 11 miles per hour today and this evening

With wind gust around 17 miles per hour throughout the day and evening.

As far as accumulations go. We will see up to around a half of an inch of rainfall around the county by midnight tonight.

I will of course keep you updated right here and on social media throughout the day and evening. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
