So you think its been cold? How does January stack up so far?

This January even though its only 9 full days in. Has been cold. It doesn't take a Meteorologist to tell you that. You have felt it and some of you have talked to me about it. This January has been off to a record start. We have broken 2 low record temperatures so far for the first 9 days of the year. We spent 4 straight days at or below freezing. Tying us for our 4th longest streak in the counties history. 

The maximum high temperature for the month came yesterday on January 9th at 63º

While our coldest temperature so far of 4º came to us on January 8th. Talk about a swing in temperatures! almost 60º in 24 hours!!!!!!

It has been cold! While we are enjoying a little warming trend don't let your guard down because this weekend we are going back to below normal temperatures around the county once again! The average temperature so far this January has been 22.9º putting us almost 6 degrees below the coldest January ever in Rowan County back in January of 1940.

So has it been cold. Well you know the answer to that. Yes!!!!! You have felt it. Your children, loved ones, friends and pets have felt it! I am certainly going to continue to track these statistics throughout the month to see if this January continues to be a record breaker and ends up being possibly the coldest January ever on record for Rowan County.
