Rain moves in late this eveniing

Friday, May 12, 2017 - 8:41am

Clouds are going to be around throughout the day. As we move throughout the late evening hours those clouds start to drop some rain. The storm and shower chances start to pick up right around 11pm this evening.

These storms and showers could bring some heavy downpours and strong winds. I am not to concerned with the severe weather threat out of this storm as the severe activity looks to be setting up over the central areas of South Carolina late this afternoon and evening. Accumulations will be light for us in terms of todays totals since the rain will arrive so late.Around a tenth of an inch by midnight at the airport while some areas along the western borders of the county could have close to an inch by the time we end out the day.

The biggest concern I have out of this is we could see some gusty winds. Tornado threat is low. Damaging wind threat is moderate in my opinion.

I will continue to keep you updated right here and on social media throughout the day. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather.
