Thursday Weather Update

This has certainly been a very breezy day. I have had many of you questioning why it is so windy. I am going to explain that in just a few moments in this blog. First let's take a look at what you can expect form the weather today.

The high today will top out at around 48º

The big story today is the winds. Gust of around 27 miles per hour are possible today.

Why is it so windy?

Many of you have asked. Here is the one place you can find your answer. When a cold front passes over an area like we are dealing with today. The winds get real gusty and breezy. The reason for this is very simple. With the sudden temperature drop being provided by the front and the cold air. There is a pressure change that occurs in the atmosphere above us. The pressure basically drops as this is a low pressure system that is moving through. When you have that release of pressure in the atmosphere it has to go somewhere. So you get the windy conditions we are dealing with today.

The low tonight will drop down to around 23º
