I began to post updates here on Rowan County Weather. I must be honest as I felt some people would say dude this is Rowan County NC. Why do we care about Wildfires in Tennessee. Boy was I wrong! You guys certainly wanted to show you concern and send your love. On Wednesday of last week I had a comment to a post about the wildfires from Colleen Flanagan Hollar. Colleen stated her family would be taking donations up to the Tennessee area on Friday. I asked Colleen if she would mind if I shared her information here on my website to see if anyone else would like to donate. Colleen without hesitation said yes! Many of you quickly responded and made sure to donate items to Colleen to take on your behalf. Colleen's daughter and Colleen's husband Dustin set out on the trip last night and delivered those items this morning.

It was so heartwarming to see photos' that Colleen has shared back here with Rowan County Weather on the donations that have already been delivered to the area.

Colleen's daughter and Dustin began to unload with many of the volunteers collecting donations.

Colleen stated that her husband Dustin had walked into a fire department in Pigeon Forge and that he talked with fire fighters who he could tell were simply exhausted. The firefighters had snacks and bottled water on a table that had been delivered to them. Colleen stated Dustin was very humbled by these brave men and women who were continuing to push on even though they were so exhausted. The firefighters were getting ready to head out to Gatlinburg to battle the fires yet again.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to donate items to Colleen and Dustin to deliver to these families who certainly need all the help they can get right now.

Thank you Colleen for reaching out and taking additional items to these families in need! Thank you everyone for donating as well! As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
