Bank of America 500 Weather Update
As we are on the eve of the Bank of America 500 the rain we are dealing with today have had an effect on the activities at the track today. They have been canceled and the Xfinity Race has been moved to Sunday. The Bank of America 500 is still on for tomorrow.
SATURDAY FORECAST 90% CHANCE OF SHOWERS WITH CLEARING BY RACE TIME
-- 6:45 p.m.: Sprint Cup Series Bank of America 500 (334 laps, 501 miles), NBC
The race should have no issues getting underway tomorrow night. We will see some rain throughout the remainder of today, into the overnight and slowly start to clear out during the day tomorrow. The heaviest rain should be out of the area by around 9 o'clock Saturday morning with more isolated lingering showers as all of the rain moves out.
Let's take a look at the latest update on Hurricane Matthew. and the impact it would have on the race.
The 11am Advisory for today has Matthew as a Category 3 Hurricane with winds of 120 miles per hour.

As you can see from the photo above the storm is expected to take a turn to the east and potentially loop around possibly making a second strike at Florida. It's still early and there is still some uncertainty on that occurring at this point. The rain we are getting today and we will get for some of the day on Saturday at the race track is not associated with Matthew

We have about a 15% chance of getting some Tropical Storm Force Wind Gust at the track during the day on Saturday. The gust could be around 40-50 miles per hour depending on how far north Matthew actually comes before making the turn.
Possible accumulation amounts before the rain comes to an end tomorrow is about 2 inches. I think these totals maybe a little over stated but we shall see how things turn out. I am leaning more toward around 1.25 in inches

If you are coming out to the track. I hope you have a great time! I will provide live weather updates throughout the race to Slugger Labbe and Austin Dillon as the Dow Racing Team continues to make a run for the Championship in The Chase. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
